Ken Brodlie
Ken Brodlie is Professor of Visualization in the School of Computing at the University of Leeds . Within the School, I am a member of the Visualization and Virtual Reality research group.  I am largely retired but continue to carry out research in visualization, working on the TSB-funded ADVISE project.  Among my external activities, I am chair of the NAG Board of Management.

Research Working within the Visualization and Virtual Reality Research Group, I have personal research interests in the theory and practice of visualization, with specific focus on:
  • Visualization systems: extending current systems to encompass collaboration, computational steering and Web and Grid technologies
  • Visualization algorithms: enhancing existing algorithms for isosurfacing and volume rendering, and developing new algorithms for constrained visualization and high dimensionality
  • Visualization applications: using visualization in e-science, astronomy, biology and medicine
  • Visualization foundations: understanding errors in visualization, and developing visualization ontologies
The group works particularly closely with NAG Ltd : Indeed much of our visualization research in the past has been as extensions to IRIS Explorer.  The ADVISE project (funded by TSB, and in collaboration with NAG and VSNi) seeks to evolve IRIS Explorer to modern computing environments, and to incorporate statistical analysis through GenStat.  Our e-science activity is centred on the White Rose Grid, a Centre of Excellence for the UK e-Science programme.
Activities My activities page includes links to my various external activities.
